Korea’s low youth employment rate has negative consequences for the young people concerned and economy as a whole. Raising is priority, particularly Korea faces most rapid population ageing among OECD countries. Low due to mismatch between education labour market, reflecting large skill gap highly-educated who race credentials secure attractive careers older workers retiring from jobs that require less human capital. The share of university graduates Koreans highest in OECD, but their relatively even small firms confront serious shortages.
